Gate Gourmet, the world's largest independent provider of catering and provisioning services for airlines and railroads was setting up a new catering unit and required a flooring solution for this demanding environment.
Situation
The new Gate Gourmet unit had a very hard concrete sub floor and the 3000 sq metre floor area required a very hard long lasting, seamless, hygienic industrial flooring system appropriate for food manufacture and production.
Solution
Arambol architects & surveyors specified RSL's leading polyurethane resin screed product; Resuthane TG69.
Resuthane is a water based polyurethane resin screed is ideal for environments with heavy duty usage where resistance to thermal shock, abrasion and chemical attack is important. Resuthane surfaces are stable to steam cleaning and resistant to boiling water and process liquids up to 100 degrees centigrade. A matt, textured surface is achieved that is both seamless and possesses good anti-slip properties.
Process
The concrete sub floor needed thorough preparation; a vacuum the area was vacuum assisted shot blasted to thoroughly clean down the area to create a good key for the resin screed. Resuthane was tapered down and toed in along the steel reinforced concrete joints to ensure a seamless finish with as few joints as possible.
Results
A seamless extremely hard wearing flooring system for a demanding food environment.
