RSL opens up an Eastern Front with innovative installation in Southern Russia

Resin Surfaces Limited (RSL), the Stockport based flooring manufacturer, has added Russia to the growing list of countries where its high quality resin products have been used for key projects. Having established a strong foothold in the UK and European flooring markets, RSL has supplied a Russian contractor with its Resuthane TG69 and RS Dampshield products for a new Pepsi production factory in Southern Russia.
Pepsi needed a high specification, easy to maintain floor across a new 8,000m sq production area. The site is being used to produce the drink, which is then distributed across Russia and the Caucasus. RSL supplied its Resuthane TG69 and RS Dampshield range to contractors, as both products are ideal for covering large areas that need to be regularly cleaned and will resist heavy traffic.
The Russian contractor used the two-component epoxy resin membrane, RS Dampshield across the concrete floor area as a damp proof membrane to combat the residual moisture. Two coats of the RS Dampshield was laid down, before a 7mm screed of Resuthane TG69. This product supplies a non-slip, chemical resistant finish which was necessary in an environment where liquid could be regularly spilt.
The project had been further complicated by the persistent heat of the Russian summer, making the factory too hot during the day for the flooring mix to be laid down. The contractors solved this by installing sections during the night, under floodlight, using new methods of power floating to ensure the Resuthane and then Dampshield cure at maximum condition.
The success of the initial installation has led to further use of the flooring system over another 1,000m sq area at the site, again using RSL products and expertise.

The unforeseen heat factors could really have put a strain on completion times, however the quality of our products stood up to the challenge. This product goes to show that if screeds are installed by experts, the results can be really pleasing for everyone concerned.”
