Cementitious product launch

We are very pleased to announce that we now supply a range of cementitious underlayments. We have worked hard so that we can supply our customers with a full flooring specification from the ground works up. It is important for us to make sure that our customers are happy and receive the level of service they require. By introducing this range we are now able offer a full service guarantee from specification to installation.

The first two products to be launched are:

Pumped Industrial Wearing Course (PIWC) is a self-smoothing industrial grade flooring, ideal for heavy duty industrial and commercial environments. PIWC has a high compressive strength of 58.5n/mm2 which makes it ideal for environments where abrasion and impact resistance is very important.

Pumped Industrial Sub Base (PISB) is an underlayment to complement the Pumped Industrial Wearing Course (PIWC). The major benefit of this underlayment is that it has a high compressive strength of 40n/mm2 providing excellent impact resistance. PISB is designed to re-profile existing worn or out of tolerance concrete slabs of thickness 7 – 60mm and is an ideal underlayment to carpet, vinyl, laminates and ceramic tiles.

We have also extended our team by introducing Ian Morrissey as our new commercial manager for the cementitious range. Ian has over ten years experience working with similar products and will be able to help specify which of these you need to complete your flooring solution.

If you would like more information on the new range please contact Ian on 0161 483 1232

Top tips to a sucessful resin installations

Some small tips that may help

  1. Preparation is key to a successful project.  Mechanically preparing substrates is the best way of removing any laitance from the surface.  It also provides a mechanical key for the materials to fully bond and adhere too.  The most common cause of failure is due to inadequate or no preparation.
  2. Ensure the product being used is suitable for the environment in which it is being used.  it is important to establish what the clients requirements are and a product should  be selected based on the requirements of the are and the client.
  3. Be consistent with your application
  4. Allow for the unexpected, substrates can sometimes be a little bit like opening Pandora’s Box once it has been prepared. Try to allow for some wastage and the porosity of the substrate.
  5. If in any doubt about any part of project, whether it be enquiring about products suitability or if there are some specific obstacles on site which need to be overcome.  Talk to the manufacturers (like RSL ).  We are more than happy to go through specifics.  Prevention is certainly better than the cure. It’s is also the most economic course of action.

Hope you find this insightful.  Your comments are appreciated.

It’s such a grey world in which we live….. and work

We all live in what was always perceived as a black and white world.  In reality it is a world which is very much different shades of grey.  It is this same statement which could be made for the industrial coatings industry.  As RSL are market leaders within the coatings industry we can safely say that by far the most common colour choice for industrial applications is some form of grey.  Whether it be a light grey or a deep graphite grey.  Grey is still grey.

Why is it such a popular choice?  Grey’s seem to be a very safe and neutral colour to use as it works with other items easily. I have to agree to some degree with this, however  I do feel that the introduction of some colour can infuse life to facilities and turn the floor areas into a showpiece.  I have  put  an example of  how colour can be used to completely redefine areas and change a facility.  Worth thinking about for your next projects,
